The
Golden Globe Awards ceremony airs tonight and the
Academy Award nominations will be announced on January 25. All this movie talk has got us thinking about some of our favorite scenes in movies featuring -- you guessed it -- limousines. Here are some of our top picks:
1. Richard Gere hanging out the top of his white limousine's moon roof waving his umbrella and a dozen roses as he hopes to win over Julia Roberts in
Pretty Woman.
See the actual scene here.
2. Argyle (played by De'voreaux White) was a limo driver who provided some much-needed comic relief in the action-packed
Die Hard.
3. Wesley Snipes does some pretty interesting driving in a limo escape in the movie
U.S. Marshals with Tommy Lee Jones.
4. In
S** and the City, Carrie's wedding limo passes Mr. Big's town car after he stood her up at the altar. Her limo stops. His car stops. Then she gets out and throws her bouquet of roses at him (not that we can blame her).
5. We love the limo scene in
Dave with Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver when Kline, as "Dave" -- who is impersonating the president -- gets a glimpse of Sigourney Weaver's sexy legs (she plays the First Lady).
6. Or how about
True Lies? Remember the scene with Jamie Lee Curtis in a limo going over a bridge that was blown up and Arnold swoops in to save her? Love it.
See the trailer here -- there's a shot of that limo scene 3/4 of the way through.
7. In the Dan Akroyd and Eddie Murphy flick
Trading Places, actors Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche (who play Mortimer and Randolph) have many scenes in a classic limo.
Can you spot where in this trailer?
8. In
Back to School, Burt Young plays Rodney Dangerfield's driver, and he helps Rodney get into -- out and of -- trouble on several occasions.
9. The late Bruno Kirby utters his distaste for the band while driving the limo in
This is Spinal Tap.
10. The oldie-but-goodie film
Arthur involves lots of cool limo scenes where the very tipsy Arthur (Dudley Moore) gets driven around Manhattan by his lovable driver.
