Accent Limousine Brings You To The Liberty Hotel in Boston

We can all agree that the last place you'd want to spend the night is in jail... well, The Liberty Hotel is a massive exception to that rule.

Built as The Charles Street Jail in 1851, the original jail was built in the form of a cross with four wings of granite extending from a central rotunda with a 90-foot-tall atrium. The wings allowed segregation of prisoners by sex and category of offense, and thirty arched windows, each 33 feet high, provided ventilation and natural light. The original jail contained 220 granite cells, each 8 feet by 10 feet.  In 1990, it was said that the jail violated the constitutional rights of the prisoners housed there and the jail was abandoned.  Side note:  My mom's uncle was a prison guard there for many, many years.  Oh the stories he could've told...

Today it stands as The Liberty Hotel and as I've already mentioned it in my Boston Bachelorette Party guide, it's the coolest hotel in Boston.  They turned the jail into a mammoth hotel that houses five of the best Boston drinking and dining establishments and 300 amazing guest rooms and 10 suites fit for the president or Brad and Angies brood.

Here are some hot tips on The Liberty:

  • Alibi is set in the old drunk tank of the jail and serves up some of the best cocktails in Boston.  The brick cell walls are lined with celebrity mugshots and you can drink your troubles away with the best of them until 2:00am.
  • The Liberty Bar is set in the actual reception site of the hotel (right in the picture posted above) and it's where all of the celebrity after parties are held in Boston.  My husband hung out with Kevin James and crew at the Mall Cop wrap party and got Eric Avari's cell phone number.  Yeah, I was super jealous.
  • You can have your wedding at The Liberty Hotel - imagine how spectacular that would be to have full run of the newly revamped jail house?  The guests would love it and you'd take away some amazing pictures and memories.
  • The hotel has a variety of packages for all your Boston needs from Fine Arts to Restaurant Week to Fenway Park, they'll provide with you with the entertainment and a place to stay for one low cost.

So whether you to go The Liberty Hotel for a bachelorette / bachelor party, some amazing Italian food, a weekend stay, or drinks at Clink, be sure to call Accent Limousine Service for a ride into The Liberty for a seriously fun night or weekend retreat. That extra glass of wine (or celebration shot) won't matter once you have one of Accent's drivers on the case!  Rent the party bus for the wedding or bachelor/bachelorette party!  They'll take care of all your needs from boston wedding limousines to a limo trip to Foxwoods to a fancy night out in the city whether or not it's Providence, Boston, Hartford, or New York.  All you have to do is decide where to go and Accent Limousine will take you there in style!

Be sure to get to The Liberty Hotel to check out this amazing piece of history turned into the hippest hotel in Boston.   And hopefully it'll be the only time you ever have to spend time in a jailhouse ;)
